Chapter 1898 - 1497: Attraction
Su Mo looked at the number of gathered mobile units, then glanced again at the distant tide of Monsters in the starry sky. His brows were practically twisted into a tangled knot; the disparity in numbers between the two sides was simply too great. With extreme gravity in his voice, he asked Tilo,
"Can we hold off the first wave?"
"Calculating interception success rate. Probability of success is less than eleven percent. There are too many of them. And our ships and personnel still can’t all get into position. But Lord Su Mo, we don’t have any choice now; the Monster tide is about to crash over us."
Tilo directly gave an extremely terrible estimate.
Su Mo’s expression shifted, and a thought flashed through his mind. He immediately issued an order to Tilo.
"No. Our odds in a frontal confrontation are too low; we’ll definitely be overrun. Order all ships to cut all chains and reposition behind the Heart of Forbidden Prison. Use the Heart of Forbidden Prison as a shield."
"But, if we do that, we’ll be surrounded like dumplings in a pot."
Tilo was also shocked by Su Mo’s proposal.
"It’s fine. These Monsters don’t have much intelligence. With the Heart of Forbidden Prison as a shield, most of the tide will surge straight past us. At worst, we’ll only be surrounded by the Monsters sweeping past our top, bottom, left, and right. Their numbers will be limited, and we’ll still have the ability to fight."
Su Mo analyzed calmly and rationally.
"Understood, I’ll execute immediately!"
Tilo rapidly thought it through, quickly accepted Su Mo’s decision, and replied.
Su Mo piloted the Mad Eye Rhenhok to the very front and spoke to everyone.
"All units, listen up: immediately maneuver around to the rear of the Heart of Forbidden Prison."
"Yes!"
Kendi and the others responded one after another.
Immediately after, the Legendary Level Star Destroyer Immortal Blade and the other ships, along with the Mechanical Army, all moved, slipping behind the Heart of Forbidden Prison.
Within the limited space, they reformed their formation.
Just then, the Monster tide that blotted out the stars swept in like a tsunami.
Countless Monsters slammed head-on into the surface of the Heart of Forbidden Prison. Some smashed themselves to pieces on impact; more of them clung to the surface of the Fortress.
These Monsters really were just as Su Mo had said—they didn’t have much intelligence.
At this moment, an ocean of Monsters swept directly past, surging toward the distant starry void.
However, the Monsters relatively close to Su Mo and the others immediately noticed them and all turned back.
Even though the number of Monsters circling around was pitifully small compared to the entire tide, for Su Mo and the others it was still an astronomical figure.
As expected, Su Mo and his group were surrounded by Monsters covering the sky and earth; everywhere they looked was nothing but Monsters.
Everyone felt a massive sense of oppression. This wave of Monsters, though made up of all sorts of different species cobbled together,
all carried disgusting Negative God Cells on their bodies.
Their Life Force and combat power had both been elevated by an entire tier, and within the dense swarm they even saw a V-type Fortress Level Combined Beast, its body extremely bloated and immense.
"Open fire!"
Tilo gave the order without the slightest hesitation.
A brilliant pillar of light, accompanied by a sky full of missiles, swept down over the Monsters that filled the heavens and earth.
Rumble—
Countless dazzling lights flared. An uncountable number of Monsters fell on the spot.
The Stance Barrier of the leading V-type Fortress Level Combined Beast was also shattered. The Celestial Cannon savagely pierced its outer shell, dissolving a large portion of its body and inflicting a massive wound.
Seeing this, everyone’s confidence surged.
"Beautiful!"
Unfortunately, their excitement lasted less than three seconds before the Monster tide that covered the sky directly filled in the dissolved gaps in the swarm, surging in like a new wave.
This time, Tilo once again controlled the Immortal Blade to pour out another wave of barrages.
The tide of Monsters was blasted to pieces once more, but because the enemy’s numbers were too great, many Monsters still survived.
"Intercept every single one that slips through. Don’t let any Monster break past us and attack the ships, understood?"
Su Mo shouted to Kendi and the others.
"Understood!"
Kendi and the others roared back.
"Kill!"
Su Mo led the charge. He piloted the Mad Eye Rhenhok, swinging the Thunder God’s Spear in a sweeping arc at the Monsters surging in.
Wherever the Thunder Light passed!
Any Monster it touched was practically vaporized and killed in a single flash.
Kendi and the others, piloting the newly armed Divine Guard Mecha series, also unleashed terrifying combat power, cutting down these damned Monsters like chopping vegetables.
But because the disparity in numbers between friend and foe was simply too great,
many Mecha were surrounded by clawing, fanged Monsters whose bodies were covered in pus-filled boils, and were furiously mobbed.
They desperately intercepted, killing one Monster after another. But the moment they slipped up, Monsters would pounce straight on them, wrapping themselves around those Mecha.
The Monsters frenziedly secreted Corrosive fluid, tearing at the Energy Barriers and completely shattering them.
Next, they drove their sharp claws and tentacles savagely into the chest, pried open the thick cockpit, and violently ripped the pilots out.
For a while, the communications channel was filled with continuous screams.
"Ah—"
"Qiangzi!"
"You damn bastards!"
...
Hearing the screams over the comms, Su Mo turned to look around. Their own mobile units were starting to suffer casualties.
One subordinate after another began to fall.
Su Mo’s brows furrowed tightly, and just then a terrifying beam of light shot in.
Iris issued a warning.
"Watch out!"
Su Mo dodged aside abruptly.
He was startled as well. Looking up, he saw yet another V-type Fortress Level Combined Beast emerging from the swarm, locking firmly onto him.
At this moment, the Immortal Blade was going all out to kill the other one and had no time to care about this one.
Su Mo had no choice but to pilot the Mad Eye Rhenhok forward, preparing to take it down by himself.
